The Expression of Hope
Isaiah 8:11-9:7 – People walking in darkness see a light
The darkness of this world is deep, really deep. The Darkness is an awful place, where people despair.
We see the despair of a people sunk in their sin. They turn to anything but the one who can save.
But God knows our hopeless state and has known it from the beginning. God told us of his plan of hope through prophecy in the Old Testament.
God has given us hope, real hope. Not a hope like hoping for a new toy, but a hope of life. God has given the “light that shines in the darkness”. It is a real hope for those in the deepest darkness. It is in the form of a man, the God-man, Jesus Christ.
