Angels
The Proclamation of Peace
Luke 2:8-14 – Angels to the Shepherds
Peace is not secured by us, it is given by God. The world lacks peace as we see in wars, conflicts, and the like. We lack inner peace – we are at war with God. We will always be short of true peace because of our conflict with God.
But God pursues us to bring us peace. Here we see the Angels coming to a class of forgotten people. They were not out seeking God. He came to them. He commands them to not fear. Then the Angels pronounce the peace that God is bringing to them.
His peace is real and foundational. It is a rest that is found in the one who is greater than all others. The results of this peace are evident in our lives and how we live – we are changed by it.
